The list of Bali scuba diving resorts below has an option for everyone. Whether you are an expert diver or a social snorkeler, get set for your deep sea adventure on the island paradise of Bali.

Amed is fast becoming the go-to place for scuba divers, free divers and technical divers. Located under the foothills of Mount Agung, Amed is 85km north east of the main airport in Denpasar.

Poised on the tip of the most Eastern point of Bali, this local fishing town has maintained it’s traditional charm in contrast to the hustle and bustle of the southern, more popular resorts.

Know for its calm waters and gentle currents, scuba diving in Amed offers some amazing underwater views with high vizability. The abundant marine life around well preserved coral, shimmering under the light of tropical sunshine makes for a colorful visible display.

Divers can enjoy clown fish and lion fish in abundance around stunning coral reefs. Views of manta rays, sharks, turtles and mola mola sunfish are also commonly reported in the waters of Amed.

Tulamben is located just passed Amed and is a scuba diving site most famous for the USAT Liberty shipwreck. The United Stand army cargo ship was sunk by a Japanese torpedo in 1942 and is now enjoyed by divers the world over. A scuba trip to Bali would not be complete without a dive around this famous location.

The location is perfect for divers with a depth range between 10 and 36 meters. The waters are home to abundant corals, large schools of fish, and interesting shipwreck artifacts to explore such as rusted anchors and propellers. Keep you eyes open for the school of Giant Bumphead Parrotfish that, if you’re lucky enough, you will see returning home from the wreck in the morning.

Nusa Penida has gained a reputation as one of Indonesia’s best dive sites with its close encounters with incredible creatures like sea turtles, manta rays, Mola molas, and sharks.

Dive sites like Crystal Bay and S.D. boast stunning coral gardens and an impressive array of exotic marine life, set against intense currents that make this experience rewarding.

Padang Bai on Bali’s east coast is great for snorkelers due to the number of shallow reefs and fish close to shore.

This area is classified as a beginner site but even advanced divers will get something out of the impressive coral formations and even spot a pod of dolphins or passing eagle rays.

Menjangan Island is located around 10km off the Bali mainland. Situated within the West Bali National Park Conservation Area, divers can arrive at this picture parade island via a 30 minute long boat ride from Labuan Lalang.

Ideal for dive ranges between 5m-50m, divers can swim alongside manta rays, reef sharks, moray eels and schools of barracuda. With beautiful walls stretching for miles on end, there are a number of dive locations around Menjangan Island to explore.

Drift Diving In Bali

If you want an even greater adrenaline rush, then drift diving in Bali should top your list. There is nothing quite like the sensation of drifting with currents while being surrounded by diverse sea creatures, both small and large. All within different forms of vibrant corals swaying gracefully in mid-water on every available space.

Not only will you experience an incredible adrenaline rush as you drift along at 16 km/h, but there will also be plenty of sea-life hidden in crevices and occasionally jumping out from below. Experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience with an amazing underwater adventure in Bali. Surround yourself with vibrant aquatic life that completely transforms your view of the sea.

Safety Precautions For Diving In Bali

Whilst scuba diving in Bali is always a fun and unforgettable experience, your safety at all times is important. Knowing what to look out for can help you make the most of your underwater adventure while staying safe and healthy.

Making sure that you dive with a PADI licensed operator will ensure that you are in the safest environment during your dives. It is important to have a good idea of your surroundings and be aware of the weather forecast. Powerful currents or low visibility can quickly turn a fun dive into an unsafe one.
